The Cherokee Advance 30 Sept 1880 p 3
Resolutions adopted by the
Canton Baptist Church
on the Death of Mrs. Ella Galt

This church is again called upon to record the death of one of its loveliest
and most useful members.
One by one they pass from their fields of labor and usefulness here, to
their glorious reward in that house not made with hands eternal in the
Heavens.
Our beloved Sister, Ella Galt, wife of our much esteemed brother, Jabez
Galt, who departed this life on the 14th day of June last, in the 27th year
of her age. She embraced the religion of our Lord Jesus Christ at an early
age. She came to this place but a few years ago, and united with this
church about three years ago, since which time, and up to the time of her
death she was a consistent, useful and much beloved member. She was
uniformaly (sic) courteous, kind and obliging and all who knew her loved and
admired her. She leaves a husband and one lovely child to mourn her loss.
May God comfort and keep them and bind up the wounds of their lacerated
hearts, for we know that all things work together for good to those that
love Him. How mysterious are the ways of Providence! How strange it seems
to us that one so full of promise should be cut down like a spring flower,
just as she approached the threshhold (sic) of her sphere of usefulness, but
God knows what is best and we bow submissively to His will.
Resolved, That in the death of our Sister, Ella Galt, this church has lost a
useful member and her family has lost a faithful wife and mother.
Resolved, That the foregoing be entered upon the minutes of this carch (sic-
church) as a testimonial of our love and esteem for our departed Sister.
