Summerville News   Sept -1985

Fred William Deering, 61, a resident of Mentone GA/AL passed away last 
Saturday, Sept 7, at 10:58 a.m.in Chattooga County Hospital
He was born in Etowah County, AL., April 5,1924, son of the Late David J. 
Deering & Virginia Bowman Deering. He was a textile worker, a veteran of World 
War11 and a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by a brother John Albert 
Deering, & a sister, Mrs Lena Mae Galloway. 
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Jeanette Martin Deering, Three daughters, Mrs. 
Fredia Teague, Mrs Dottie Bryson, both of Mentone; & Mrs Imogene Warren of 
Trion, GA. Three sisters; Mrs. Pluma Martin, Mrs Myrtle Williams, of Mentone, & 
Mrs Letha Chappelear of Gaylesville, AL; 5 grandchildren & several neices and 
nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 9, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Erwin- 
Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Ledford officiating. Active pallbearers
were L.D. Powell, J.P. Morrow, Thomas Maynard, Ray Shaw, James Gardner & Dwight 
Powell.
Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
