The Cherokee Advance 5 June 1885 p 2
Tribute of Respect
Many days and even years have glided by since many of this Lodge first knew
and learned to love our deceased brother, Reuben F. Dadiel (sic)--for to know
him was but to love him.
More than forty years ago Brother Daniel joined this Lodge, and has ever since
continued an exemplary member of the same; yea, might we say more. He has
been an exemplar of Masonry, and to those at least who know anything of the
rules and teachings of our Order no grander tribute could be paid.
"Uncle Frank"--for by this name was he most familiarly known--is gone. No more
will we hear his words of cheer, or share his wise counsel; but may we all
trust to meet him in the Grand Lodge above, of which we firmly believe he is
now a member, where no chain shall be broken, and whose Grand Master is God.
Wherefore, be it resolved:
1. That in the death of Brother Daniel this Lodge has lost a useful and
exemplary member, the church a zealous christian, the community an honored and
respected citizen, and the world is better for his having lived in it.
2. That the sympathy of this Lodge be tendered his widow and family in their
sore bereavement.
3. That a copy of these resolutions be furnished the widow of our deceased
brother, and also The Cherokee Advance for publication.
                    Jabez Galt,
                    James L. Jordan,
                         Committee.
Canton Lodge No. 77, F. & A. M.
