The Cherokee Advance 27 Mar 1884 p 3
. . .Passing from there it went on went on (sic) to Freemansville in Milton
county where we next hear of it. There it blew down Boiling Springs church,
the house of Garrison Cross and killed his wife, the dwelling of C. H. Maddox
and killed Esquire W. I. Christain,(Christian?) and the house of William
Grogan.

. . .Esquire Christain is one of the best citizens of our county and happened
to be at C. H. Maddox when the wind came and blew down the house and threw the
chimney on him, killing him almost instantly.
