The Cherokee Advance 18 Sept 1885 p 3
As stated in last week's Advance, Miss Sallie Roberts and Mr. J. E.
Prichard, of ____, Texas, were married at the residence of Hon. Joshua
Roberts, near Too Ny, by Rev. A. G. Johnson, of Acworth, on Thursday
evening, September 10. Only a few of the most intimate friends of the
contracting parties were present--Miss Lecy Putnam and Mr. J. J. Cogging
from Canton. The happy couple will leave for their future home in a few
days, leaving behind them many sincere friends and well-wishers. We return
many, many thanks for kind remembrance in the way of a nice lot of delicious
wedding cake.
Acworth correspondent to Atlanta Constitution said of them: "A little over
two years ago rumor said that ere long John Prichard, of Acworth, and Miss
Sallie Roberts, of Cherokee county, would marry. The prominence of the two
families gave greater force to the report. Mr. Prichard was regarded one of
the best catches in Acworth. He occupied a prominent position in society
and was liked by all who knew him. Miss Roberts is one of the most
beautiful young women of her sex, and very intelligent and refined."
