On Thursday evening, Dec. 31st., 1885, a happy marriage was consummated at 
Ball Ground between Mr. Judge J. Bates, of Murray county, Ga., and Miss 
Lillie Pickett, of Ball Ground.  Rev. M. M. Bates, fsther (sic) of the 
groom, officiated, and the attendants Mr. L. A. McClure, Ball Ground, and 
Miss Lula Bates, of of (sic) Murray county.  The bride is the lovely, 
beautiful and accomplished daughter of Rev. T. Pickett.  The groom is a 
young gentleman of fine business qualifications and is now in the employ of 
the Wrought Iron Range Co., of St. Louis, Mo. The happy couple have returned 
to their future home in Murray county, carrying with them the best wishes of 
all for a long life strewn with sweetest pleasures and successes.  The 
Advance extends best wishes.
