The Cherokee Advance 5 June 1884 p 3
Tonight (Thursday) a happy marriage will be consumated (sic) between Miss Carrie
Evans, of Little River, and Mr. Jno R. Speck, of Virginia, at the brides (sic)
residence, by Rev. A. G. Haygood, of Emory College. Mr. Speck will graduate at
Emory during this month and will then take a bridal tour to his home in Virginia
and thence to Baltimore. We can but congratulate Mr. Speck upon his choice of a
companion for life; she is one of Cherokee's most lovely and accomplished young
ladies and as a citizen of Cherokee we will part reluctantly with her. May
their pathway through this life be strewn with flowers of love, happiness,
peace, prosperity and contentment and they finally be crowned with the richest
benedictions of an All-wise creator.
