Our Mountain Home June 23, 1915
W. A. Horn, of Clairmont Springs, brought to the Home office Wednesday morning
two large hen eggs, the two-weighing half a pound. The eggs from the tip to the
butt measured about 3 inches and were in proportions in other measurements. They
were clearly the largest hen eggs ever seen in Talladega. Mr. Horn says the eggs
were laid by a Buff Orpington hen. He states that he has about 25 such hens, but
this particular one has always laid larger than ordinary eggs. The two he brought
here however, he says, are the largest of the lot. He says he feeds hens on
ordinary farm grown grain and does not resort to any patent hen feedings.
