BELCHER, Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson Belcher, 84, of Route 5, Louisa, died Friday, March 22, at 10:35 
p.m. in a Louisa hospital after an illness of 1 1/2 years. Funeral services were 
conducted Monday, March 25, at 2 p.m. from the United Baptist Church, Inez, KY, 
with the Rev. Sammie Branham officiating. Burial was in the Belcher Cemetery on 
Route 5, Louisa. Born July 26, 1878, in Wayne County, WV, he was a son of the 
late Allen and Lucinda Crum Belcher. He was a retired United Fuel Gas Co. 
employee. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. Survivors include the 
widow, Mrs. Elsie Tomblin Belcher, six daughters, Mrs. Charles Fitzpatrick, 
Hensley, WV, Mrs. Brookie Colvin and Miss Bernice Belcher of Columbus, OH, Mrs. 
Theresa Ray, Shoals, WV, Miss Irene Belcher, Princeton, WV, and Miss Melda 
Belcher, at home; two step daughters, Mrs. James Salmons, Sciotoville, OH, and 
Mrs. Russell McManus, Dayton, OH, 6 sons, Grant Belcher, Inez, KY, Joe Belcher, 
Hensley, WV, Andrew Belcher, Princeton, WV, Lace Belcher, Cleveland, OH, Johnny 
and Lawrence Belcher, both at home; one stepson, Arvil Maynard of Fort Gay, WV; 
a sister, Mrs. Virginia France, Logan, WV, 3 brothers, Anderson Belcher, Crum, 
WV, Millard Belcher, Kenova, WV, Bill Belcher, Man, WV, 18 grandchildren and 9 
great grandchildren. The body was taken to the home of Grant Belcher, Inez, KY, 
Sunday, March 24, from the Young Funeral Home. Big Sandy News, April 4, 1963
