ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED

   Announcement recently appeared in the Birmingham papers of the engagement of Miss Myrtle 
AVERY, of this county, now teaching in the public schools of Wylam, to Mr. William Rupert 
HOLDER, of Roanoke. The marriage will occur June 15th at the home of the bride-elect's brother, 
Dr. Wyatt AVERY, at Shelbyville, Tenn. The couple expect[s] to sail for Africa early in July, 
where Mr. HOLDER is doing missionary work. Many friends of the parties will read this notice 
with genuine interest.

LEAVE FOR AFRICAN MISSION

   On the 7:30 train Saturday a.m. July 31st, Mr. and Mrs. William R. HOLDER will begin their 
journey for the foreign fields in Congo, Africa. They go via Atlanta, and will stop in Kentucky 
and other states. They expect to sail from New York in an American vessel, via England, about 
the 7th of August.
   Mr. HOLDER has been home on a furlough, and upon his return is so fortunate as to be
accompanied by his lovely bride, who was Miss Myrtle AVERY before her marriage some weeks ago. 
This excellent young couple will leave with the hearty good wishes of many admiring friends.
