"Requiem mass for Michael J. Carney, who died Sunday at the home of his mother, 
109 Front Street, Westernport, was celebrated yesterday in St. Peter's Catholic 
church. Rev. Michael Kenneth Carney, pastor of St. Peter's Catholic church, 
Oakland, was celebrant. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were 
Paul Mansfield, Frank Malloy, Bond Pence, Leo Herbert , Owen Kelly and Leon 
Ritter. A native of Piedmont, Mr. Carney was the son of Johanna Carney and the 
late Thomas Carney. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church and had been 
employed as a machinist 34 years at the B & O shops, Keyser. Mr. Carney is 
survived by his wife, Alice H. Carney, Hyattsville, Md., and his mother. Out-of-
town people attending the funeral were Mrs. M. J. Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Guy 
Zilee, Miss Louise Carney, J. Joseph Carney, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ritter, and 
Edward Coyle, Cumberland; Misses Agnes and Loretta Hannon, James Coyle, Mrs. 
Joseph Footen Hannon, Frostburg; and Mrs. John T. Dorsey, Keyser; and Mr. and 
Mrs. Ray Dixon, Terra Alta."
