"The Herald" Piedmont, West Virginia, Thu 7 Apr 1955: "
Requiem mass for Richard A. Carey, 63, of 72 W. Hampshire street, Piedmont, who died 
Monday morning in Memorial hospital, Cumberland, was celebrated Monday morning in St. 
Peter's Catholic church by the Rev. George Pugh, assistant pastor. The Rev. Charles 
Quinn, assistant pastor, was in the sanctuary. Interment was in the parish cemetery. 
Pallbearers were Burton Smith, John Kelly, Overton Walker, Wilbur Myers, Thomas 
McGuire, Dr. Lawrence Fanti, John Determan and Bud Warnick. A native of Lonaconing, 
Mr. Carey was the son of the late James A. and Mary Cain Carey. He had resided in the 
Tri-Towns most of his life. Mr. Carey was admitted to Memorial hospital Saturday 
evening after becoming ill while at work at the State Liquor commission store on W. 
Fairview street. Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Stella Fanto Carey; a brother, john 
Carey, Bishop, California; and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Welsh, Westernport..."
