Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Wed 13 Nov 1918: Midland, Md., 
Peter B. Cain, 42 years old, for 17 years agent for the 
George's Creek and Cumberland Railroad at Midland died 
Tuesday afternoon at Allegany Hospital, Cumberland, from 
complications resulting from influenza.  An operation, 
which was imperative, failed to relieve his condition.  
Mr. Cain served several terms as treasurer of Midland.  
He was active in the affairs of the volunteer fire 
company and was a member of the executive committee of 
the Maryland State Fireman's Association. He was a 
member of St. Joseph's Catholic church from which the 
funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock solemn 
high mass.  Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, 
Frostburg.  Mr. Cain was district deputy for Western 
Maryland the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the 
Holy Name Society and of Father Matthew's Total 
Abstinence Society. Surviving are his wife and one 
daughter, Mary, also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry 
Cain, Frostburg, three brothers, John, James and Thomas 
Cain, and four sisters, Mrs. Patrick Grimes, Woodlawn, 
Pa.; Mrs. William Lavelle, Vale Summitt; Mrs. John Baker 
and Mrs. John Johnson, Cumberland."
