Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Fri 1 June 1962: 
"Joseph M. Byrne, 56, of 407 Maryland Avenue, died at his residence 
yesterday after a lingering illness.  Born in Midland, he was a son 
of the late Michael and Rose Ann (Cunningham) Nolan.  An employe of 
the G. C. Murphy Company for many years, he was a member of St. 
Patrick's Catholic Church.  His wife, Marjorie (Newhouse) Byrne, 
died in 1944.  Surviving are a son, Michael J. Byrne, at home; and 
two sisters, Mrs. Rose Lee Brailer, city, and Miss Veronica Byrne, 
Baltimore.  The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where friends 
will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 
and 7 to 9 p.m.  The rosary will be recited at the funeral home 
Sunday at 7 p.m.  A requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 9 
a.m. at St. Patrick's Church and interment will be in the parish 
cemetery."
