"Piedmont Herald" Piedmont, West Virginia, Thursday 23 Oct 1941: 
"William R. Brown, 57, formerly of Westernport, died suddenly Tuesday night at his 
home at Masontown, Pa. He was ill only one day. Requiem mass will be held tomorrow 
morning at 9 o'clock at Masontown and interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery, 
Frostburg. A son of the late Patrick H. and Annie Brown, he formerly resided in 
Westernport. He was superintendent of mines for the W. Va. Pulp & Paper Co. at Luke. 
More recently he was located at Jenkins, Kentucky, whence he moved to Masontown. 
Besides his widow, Mrs. May (Neff) Brown, he is survived by several daughters, a 
sister, Mrs. Anthony Davis, Frederick, and three brothers, Harry, manager of the 
Lexington hotel, New York, Bernard, State College, Pa., and Frank Brown, of Bear 
Creek, Montana."
