"Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Wed 1 Nov 1911: 
"Mr. Peter Briner, aged 64 years, died at his home on Ocean Hill 
Saturday after several months' illness. Mr. Briner has been in 
very poor health for a long time and death was caused by cancer 
of the stomach. Mr. Briner came to this country from Germany over 
thirty years ago and lived for a ling time in Eckhart, later 
coming to Ocean where he had resided ever since. He is survived 
by his wife and the following children: Mrs. John Haberstack, 
Mrs. William Pfister and Mr. Joseph Briner, all of Baltimore and 
Messrs. John, Peter and Stephen Briner, of Ocean. The funeral 
took place yesterday morning. A high mass of requiem was 
celebrated in St. Joseph's Catholic church by Rev. F. P. Mackall. 
Rev. Fr. Mackall also preached a very touching sermon in 
reference to Mr. Briner's life and good works. The pallbearers 
were as follows: Messrs. Patrick Blake, Patrick Nolan, Carl 
Pfister, William Condon, George Boeinger and Joseph Hoover. 
Interment was made in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery, Frostburg."
