Evening Times, Cumberland, Md.  December 31, 1938
Lonaconing, Dec. 31 -  Charles Boettcher, 57, died suddenly at noon yesterday 
while at work near Carlos on the WPA flood wall project along the creek toward 
Klondike.  He was stricken with a heart attack.  A native of Allegany county, 
he was a son of Mrs. Katherine Phillips and the late William Boettcher.
   Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Seggie Boettcher, 
and four children; Mrs. Elizabeth Nolan, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Nellie Miller and 
William and John Boettcher, Lonaconinig.  He also leaves one sister, Mrs. 
Nellie Nealis, Pittsburg, and the followiing half brothers and sister;  Mrs. 
Edith Beeman and Thomas Phillips, Lonaconing; Mrs. Edna Wilkes, Columbus, 
Ohio, and Louis Phillips, Westernport.
    Mr. Boettcher had previously been employed by coal companies in this 
section.  He was a member of Union Council, Jr. O.U.A.M.
