The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia, Fri 30 Mar 1928:
"John Acklin, bridge contractor, who was employed her in 1911
in erecting the Washington street bridge across George's Creek
in Westernport, died from a tumor of the brain Monday of last
week at his home in Marianna, Pa. He had been ill five months,
and was for a time in a Pittsburgh hospital, but specialists
of that city and of Baltimore, who were called in consultation,
were powerless to relieve his condition. His wife, who was
Miss Margaret Melvin, of this place, and eight children under
eighteen years of age, survive. He also leaves his parents and
four sisters. The funeral service was held Wednesday of last
week, and interment was in the Oakmont Cemetery at Waynesburg,
Pa."
