The Carnesville Herald February 15, 1945
The District 4-H Cotton Contest won by Doyle Hart, Royston, Ga.. Rt. 1, (Who is 
the son of Mr. Roy W. Hart) of Sandy Cross Community. Doyle made 4 bales of 
cotton on two acres, weighing 454 pounds each (or 1816 pounds on the two acres). 
Doyle had all the boys in 40 counties competing with him for this prize, which 
is $5.00 cash donated by the Nitrate of Soda people. Doyle, we congratulate you 
on winning this District contest and trust that you will continue winning until 
you win your degree from the Agricultural College, which you are planning to do.
The 4-H Club is designed to help young boys and girls make up their minds to get 
all the schooling they can and prepare themselves to be good citizens and 
leaders in their communities.
