Forty-nine of the 114 decedents of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Orr met at a family 
reunion at their old home place Sunday, June 26, to the Corinth community. The 
four-room log house with a small upstairs was built 79 years ago. 
Since being built, the outside of the house has been weatherboarded but has only 
been covered with two different roofs. The first roof of the house was made of 
drawn shingles and only needed a second roof in the last few years. 
The house is now owned by Mrs. A. T. Johnston, Boaz, daughter of the late Mr. 
and Mrs. J. W. Orr. Mrs. J. W. Orr died in 1922 and Mr. J. W. Orr died in 1932. 
J. W. Orr homesteaded the land when he first came to Clay County more than 100 
years ago. 
Those attending the reunion were: Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Orr, son, and his four 
children, Mrs. Charles Fountain, Mrs. Terah Orr, Ellis Orr Jacksonville, Fla., 
and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Harrell, Oglethorpe, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. J. S. W. Orr, 
son, and his family; Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Orr, Carolyn Orr, Bill Orr, Gail Orr, 
Talladega; Mrs. Herbert Orr, Joe Orr and Jimmy Orr, Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. and 
Mrs. W. L. Runyan, daughter, and their family, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Runyan, Timmy 
Runyan, Dan Runyan, J. B. Runyan, Joe Runyan, Mrs. Bertie Cason, Mariann Cason, 
Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Burt, Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Poland and 
Angela Poland, Lineville; Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Johnston, daughter Boaz; Mr. and 
Mrs. Bethel Martin, Tommy Martin, Alabama City; Mr. and Mrs. Romey Hall, Boyd 
Hall and Billy Joe Hall. Cullman; Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Broadwell, Mrs. Grady 
Garrard and son, Mrs. Mary Lou Moon, Peggy Ann Moon, Rickie Sue Moon, Boaz.
The four children of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Orr range in age from 75 to 81. It was 
the first time the four of them had been together in 20 years.
