The Birmingham News November 24, 1936
An orchid to Mr. J. O. Birchfield, of Pyriton, Ala., from The Birmingham News. 
Mr. Birchfield, formerly Miss Eulalah Weaver, received her education at old 
Lineville College and at State Teachers College, Jacksonville. She taught school 
about 16 years in Clay County, besides being an ideal home maker, she is an 
outstanding leader in her community in all sorts of civic and progressive 
activities. She served as a charter member of the Welfare Board of Clay County, 
is a tireless Rad Cross worker, sponsored the Easter sale of stamps for the 
benefit of crippled children, and is an active member of the Home Demonstration 
Club. She drove a car through to Washington and back, carrying a group of club 
women to the International Federation of Farm Women. She is interested in all 
phases of club work and is tireless in her devotion to school and religious 
activities. She has served as associational superintendent of the W. M. U. and 
is the young people leader for the Carey Baptist Association. Aside from her 
public activities. Mrs. Burchfield is invaluable to her community in time of 
sickness and sorrow. She has given her time and services, willingly and has 
endeared herself to the fortunate and unfortunate, alike.
