FORMER RESIDENT OF BLAIRSVILLE DIES IN CRASH

Clifton L. Beatty, 24, Fatally Injured Early Sunday Morning, When Motorcycle Hit 
Parked Car

A former Blairsville youth employed by a Pittsburgh newspaper was fatally 
injured in Pittsburgh yesterday morning when a motorcycle collided with a parked 
automobile. The victim, Clifford L. Beatty, 24, of Pittsburgh, an employee of 
the "Sun-Telegraph," was riding with Howard Ripple, another employee of the 
newspaper, who was delivering  papers, when the collision occurred. Beatty was 
in the sidecar of the motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into a parked car in 
Second avenue. Beatty suffered a fracture of the skull and internal injuries and 
was pronounced dead at the Mercy Hospital. Ripple was uninjured. The body was 
removed to Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville. 

Clifton L. Beatty was born in Conemaugh, March 31, 1908, a son of Christopher B. 
Beatty and Luella (Humphrey) Beatty. The family later removed to Blairsville, 
where Mr. Beatty was a well-known employee of the freight department of the 
Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He died in 1924 and is buried in the Blairsville 
Cemetery. The victim resided with his mother in Pittsburgh. 

Funeral services will be held in the Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville at 
2:30 p.m. tomorrow in charge of the Rev. Joseph C. Stuart, minister of the First 
Presbyterian Church of Blairsville. Burial will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
