BRAKEMAN'S DEATH - A man by the name of John BATES, a brakeman on the
Pennsylvania railroad, who was hurt on his train near East Liberty
last night, died to-day at the West Penn hospital.

Another inquest was held in the case of John D BATES, the railroader
killed at Seventeenth street yesterday. The verdict was accidental
death. (under an article titled, Inquests To-day)

John D BATES, age 22 years, single, railroad fireman, died January 17,
1889, crushed on the Pennsylvania railroad at 17th street; born in PA;
lived in Aurora, Indiana County, PA; burial in a Cherry------- PA
cemetery on January 20, 1889.
