Anniston Star July 23, 1935
A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman A. Moore at 
Pyriton, Route 1, Sunday. The Moore home was established more than 80 years ago, 
Mr. Moore having moved there in 1880. A large number of relatives and friends, 
including five of Mr. Moore's six children, gathered for the event, coming from 
New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Texas and many parts of 
Alabama. The children present were Mrs. W. R. Birchfield of Lubbock, Texas, J. R 
Moore of Brownsfield, Texas, Charles Moore of New York City, J. W. Moore of 
Delta and Albert Moore of Miami, Fla. M. L. Moore of Dayton, Nev, was unable to 
attend. Nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren were present. The 
daughter and the sons who came home for the reunion will remain for two weeks, 
with the exception of Charles Moore, who has returned to New York. At the noon 
hour dinner was served at a long table placed beneath the trees. Mr. Moore 
welcomed the guests assembled around the table and response were made by Judge 
E. J. Garrison, Frank Ingram and W. C. Dempsey of Ashland. Young Shaddix, David 
Moore and Theoren Burns of Wedowee, L.W. Smith, Evans Stancel and Mrs. Mollie 
Spurlin of Pyriton, Albert Monroe of Miami and J. B. Carter of Oxford. Harmon 
Moore of Wedowee. ministerial student of Wesley College at Winchester, Ky a 
great nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Moore, preached a sermon. Mr. Moore was born in 
Randolph County. He has attended the same church the Church of Christ in his 
community, for 5O years. He as married three times his present wife having been 
Miss Emma Shaw of Anniston. The children of the family were born to Mr. Moore 
second wife, who was Georgia Ann Strickland of Lineville. The reunion brought 
children together the first time since they left their old home to locate to 
widely separated portions of the country. About 490 wert present for the 
reunion.
