MRS. LULU BATES.

With much sorrow we are called upon to chronicle the death of another
affectionate wife, and kind mother, the subject being the wife of
Charles Bates, the efficient engineer at the electric light plant.
Puerperal fever, like unto that of Mrs. Kennedy's caused this estimable
lady's death, and she also, with mother's love in her heart was obliged
to submit to the cruel hand of death. Mrs. Bates died Monday afternoon
at about 12:10 o'clock and leaves a husband and three children. She was
a member of the Methodist church, and beloved by all who knew her. Her
remains were taken on Sea Shore Express Tuesday morning to Newport,
Perry county, the place of her nativity, for interment.
