The final demise came on November 27, 2001 in Sierra Vista, Arizona for
Dallas Jay Banks. He was born on May 24, 1925 to Jay W. and Margaret
Jamison Banks. Following a stroke, he had been in failing health for one
year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Stiles in
November, 1992. After being stationed in Vietnam, his only son, Dallas
Jay Banks, Jr. died from Agent Orange. His daughter, Elaine Flexser
lives in Ontario, California. There are four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Following World War II and an honorable discharge,
Dallas worked at Corcelious Hardware Store in Huntingdon, Burger
AirCraft for Republic Steel in Canton, Ohio and Owen Fiberglass in
Huntingdon, Penna. In 1956, he moved to Bisbee, Arizona. He went to work
at Ft. Huachuca as a painter foreman until he moved to Phoenix, Arizona
to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Upon arriving in California in
1960, he was trained in woodworking and obtained further experience in
exterior and interior painting, cabinet making and furniture
refinishing. This experience enabled him to gain employment thru
Universal Studios and later, Disney Studios. His ability with color was
remarkable and progressed into his own creativity with oil paintings.
Generosity to anyone in need was a quality well known to him. His
respect and sweetness has left a mark on his friends at the Life Care
Center in Sierra Vista. A Christian man, he ministered to those in need.
Never faltering, he cared for his wife, Betty and assisted with the care
of his son, Dallas, Jr. His family was rewarded by his many acts of
kindness. This includes his nieces, Nina S. Graeme of Bisbee, Arizona
and her four children and Barbara Youngs of Silver City, New Mexico, her
husband and two children. In the Huntingdon area lives his remaining
siblings: Clarence Banks, Rev. Merrill Banks and Lillian Sheasley. A
memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at the Dugan
Funeral Chapel in Bisbee, Arizona. Following cremation, his ashes will
be sent to the Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Covina, California where he
will rest beside his wife, "Spirit and Soul with God!"
