E. Joan Allard

  E. Joan Allard, 80, of 101 Edinburgh Court, Huntingdon, and formerly 
of Box 128, Huntingdon, R.R. 4, died at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 
2007, at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
  Born Oct. 27, 1926, in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of the late 
Arthur Raymond and Mabel (Glover) Allard.
  Miss Allard is survived by a sister, Florence Idella (Allard) 
Parsons, Walker Township, Huntingdon; two nieces, Joan I. (Parsons) 
Engle and husband, W. Stephen Engle, Alexandria; and E. Susan (Parsons) 
Witmer, Walker Township, Huntingdon; a great-niece, Jennifer S. 
(Witmer) Nace and her husband, Nathan, and a great-great niece, Kathryn 
S. Nace, all of Huntingdon.
  Miss Allard was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church and 
had formerly served as a Sunday school teacher.
  She had formerly served as a volunteer of the auxiliary to J.C. Blair 
Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, and Westminster Woods, Huntingdon.  She 
was also a former Girl Scout leader.
  Miss Allard was educated in the Upper Darby public schools and was a 
1944 graduate of Upper Darby High School.  She received a bachelor of 
science degree in commerce and finance from Bucknell University, 
Lewisburg, in 1948.
  She was employed from 1948-1956 as an administrative secretary for a 
Philadelphia law firm.  From 1956 until her retirement in 1986 she was 
employed by General Electric as a manager of employer relations (human 
resources) in Valley Forge, Philadelphia, Syracuse, N.Y., Schenectady, 
N.Y., and Bridgeport, Conn.  At the time of her retirement, she was the 
second highest ranking woman in G.E. corporate history.
  A resident of Huntingdon County since 1986, she enjoyed her rag doll 
collection, gardening, fishing and needlework.  She also loved spending 
summers at her cabin in Maine.
  Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the John B. Brown Funeral 
Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Donna M. Rhodes 
officiating.  Interment will be made in the Umbria Cemetery, Osceola 
Mills, Decatur Township, Clearfield County.
  Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the hour of 
Monday's services.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Miss 
Allard's memory to Westminster Woods, Environmental Services, 360 
Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
