Terry M. Abrashoff

  Terry M. Abrashoff, 59, of P.O. Box 77, Shirleysburg went to be with 
the Lord at 8:55 p.m. on Friday, September 15, at his home, following a 
battle with lung cancer. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, 
September 18 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with 
Pastor Steve Motter officiating. Interment was in Haven Rest Memorial 
Park, RD, Shirleysburg.
  He was born on October 8, 1946, in Huntingdon. He was the son of the 
late Melvin "Micky" and Sara Grace (Gilbert) Abrashoff.
  Mr. Abrashoff was united in marriage to Devena I. (Russell) Abrashoff 
on May 17, 1969 in Three Springs by the Rev. Marion Walker. His wife 
survives, along with their son, Shawn M. Leonard and wife Sherry of 
Three Springs.
  The following grandchildren survive: Erin; Ashley; Dustin; Kellie and 
Brooke and two great-grandchildren: Jocelyn and Jacob.
  Also surviving is a brother, Donald J. Abrashoff of Butler.
  Mr. Abrashoff was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Yocum.
  He was a graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, Class of 
1964. He received an Associate Degree in Accounting from South Hills 
Business School, in 1977, and was only one of two male students, and 
was elected President of his class.
  Mr. Abrashoff most recently worked as the Shirleysburg Borough 
Secretary where he served for 20 years until the time of illness last 
year. In the past he had also been employed by Penna. Glass Sand Corp., 
Mapleton.
  He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He especially loved to fish 
with his son and taking his grandchildren and nieces and nephews 
fishing. He enjoyed reading, history, and was a collector of WWII 
memorabilia.
  Mr. Abrashoff was a member of the Orbisonia-Rockhill Fire Company and 
served as an EMT with their ambulance service. He was the recipient of 
the President's Award in 1988 for making over 600 ambulance calls for 
that year. He was also an instructor for EMT classes.
