The Berrien Press - June 11, 2014
Peggy Deanne Alexander left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
She was born to Clarence and Deanne Alexander on December 22, 1942.
She is survived by son, Jarrett Alexander Gornto, son, Bradford Boone Gornto
and daughter-in-law, Cindy Gornto; grandsons, Bryce Alexander Gornto, Owen Isaac
Gornto and Joel Andrew Gornto, granddaughter, Daisy Grace Gornto; and brother,
Clarence “Butch”
Alexander. She graduated from Berrien High School in Nashville in 1960 and
Valdosta State College with a B.S. in Education in 1964. After teaching
elementary education for several years, she became a devoted homemaker to raise
her two sons. She was an avid tennis player and fan, and she organized and
managed many youth tennis tournaments throughout the Central Florida area. She
went back to college to obtain an M.A. in Speech Language Pathology from the
University of Central Florida in Orlando. She loved the Lord her entire life and
found great joy in studying His Word and being a “prayer warrior” for her
family. She was most recently a member of Riverbend Community Church in Ormond
Beach, where she was actively involved in her Bible Fellowship Group and was an
assistant Sunday school teacher for two-year old children. Her favorite
activity was spending time with her four grandchildren, who affectionately call
her “Da.”
A memorial service was held June 10 at 11 a.m. at Riverbend Community Church in
Ormond Beach, FL.
Haigh-Black Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ormond Beach, FL was in
charge of arrangements.
