  BROCKWAY (PA) RECORD, dated 7/2/1915

Mrs. Anna Smith Died Thursday at Brockport

Well Known Woman Passed Away After Several Months' Illness.
THE FUNERAL TO BE ON SUNDAY

Service at The Brockport Church and Interment At Brockwayville.

Mrs. Anna Smith, one of the best known residents of the Brockport district,
and widow of the late S. O. Smith, died at her home above Brockport Thursday
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, after an illness of several months' duration from
Bright's disease. Mrs. Smith had been failing for nearly a year but was able
to be around most of the time and look after her household duties and mingle
with her friends. Last Saturday she developed a serious condition and
continued to grow worse until the end came yesterday. The news of the death of
Mrs. Smith was a distinct shock to her large circle of relatives and friends
throughout this section where she has resided all her life.

The deceased was born at Brockport, January 28, 1871, and was the daughter of
Theodore and Annie M. Fox. She lived at home with her parents until August 24,
1892, when she was united in marriage with Samuel O. Smith and they
established their home at Brockport where they lived continuously with the
exception of two years when Mr. Smith conducted a hotel at Byrnedale. Mr.
Smith died December 26, 1912. Mrs. Smith and two daughters Mabel and Nina,
continued to maintain their residence on the home farm adjoining that of Mrs.
  Smith's mother.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Brockport M. E. church for many years and was a
consistent christian lady, being active in all church and auxiliary work and
devoting much of her time and means for the advancement of christianity and
the uplift of mankind. She was a good neighbor and friend and was held in high
esteem by all who knew her.

The Smith family has always been one of the most popular in the valley and
their home is one of the most hospitable places in this section. Their friends
are legion and the visitation of the hand of death in taking the mother has
caused general regret. The two daughters who have within the past three years
lost both father and mother, as well as the aged mother, the sister and
brother, have the sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.

The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon with services at the Brockport M.
  E. church at one o'clock, Rev. F. W. Shope officiating and interment will be
made in the Brockwayville cemetery. The deceased is survived by her by her
aged mother, her two daughters, one sister, Mrs. I. H. Cloos, of Pittsburgh,
and one brother, Theodore C. Fox, of Corry, Pa.
