HARRY MEANS

Harry Means, a well known contractor and farmer, died at his home
near Punxsutawney quite suddenly on Saturday night. He had retired in
his usual health and about 11:30 o'clock his wife was awakened by an
unusual noise and found him dead. Death was due to acute dilation of
the heart. He was well known in this city and for more than a year was
superintendent of outside work at the state sanitarium at Cresson.
The deceased was the son of Thomas Means, a pioneer resident of
Jefferson county, was born on the farm adjoining the one on which he
lived and was aged 62 years. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of
Punxsutawney and had the respect and esteem of all who shared his
acquaintance. He was a progressive farmer and a master carpenter and
was conscientious in all his dealings with his fellowmen. He was a
member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Frostburg and the Odd
Fellows of Punxsutawney. He is survived by his wife and three
children, Dr. L. L. Means, of Reynoldsville; Mrs. J. M. Cook, of
Hamilton, and Mrs. O. B. Depp, of Punxsutawney. He is also survived by
the following brothers and sisters: Owen and Mrs. Elizabeth Depp, of
Frostburg; Monroe, of Ebensburg; Miller G. and Mrs. Gibson Evans, of
