News reached the city last night of the killing of Rev. Twig Morrison by Sim
Parker in Shinbone valley, Clay County. The killing occurred on the farm of
Morrison and was brought about by a difficulty between the two men in a
settlement of their crops. Parker is a son-in-law of Morrison, but it is not
known if he has been arrested. Rev. Morrison is a Methodist minister and a well
to do farmer. He is known in Anniston. The Shinbone valley is situated between
Oxford and Delta and where the shooting occurred is but a short distance from
Delta.

Ashland Standard:
News reached here Thursday morning of a difficulty near Shinbone between Sim
Parker and Twig Morrison which resulted in the death of the latter; The report
states that he received two shots, one in the face and the other in the breast
the last proving fatal. Sheriff Mayo left early in the morning for the scene of
the difficulty and had not returned up to the time of going to press. We have

under the influence of whiskey. Parker was a son-in-law of Morrison.
