Anniston Star November 28, 1934
Four-year-old Cecil Foster Tuesday was faced with blindness for the rest of his
life the victim of a tragic and unusual accident. The child was sitting in front
of a fire in his home. His mother, Mrs. Chester Foster, threw some wood chips
from a box into the fire. In the box also was a shotgun shell. When the shell was
accidentally placed in the fire it exploded and bits of shot punctured the pupils
of both eyes of the child. Physicians at Garner hospital here said after an
examination the child would be blind for life.
