Jacksonville Republican
In Randolph County, Ala on the 26th ults Gen. Thomas Abels a well-known citizen 
was killed on Saturday last at Chulafinnee by a man named Wilson who struck him 
on the head with a hame.

[hame is Not a typo] 

Note: Some family histories state that the Abel & Morrison men served in the 
Mexican War.
