Goodwater Enterprise
James Bostic, who for the last two weeks has been missing from his home near
Goodwater, was found last Wednesday by a searching party near the banks of
Hatchett Creek not far from his home. The body bore evidence of having been dead
for some time and it is firmly believed that the old negro's life was taken by
someone, though no evidence in the way of weapons of any kind were found
anywhere near the lifeless body. Bostic was a well-known negro in Coosa County
and was not known to have any enemies led the life of a poor farmer; and was
known to be a respectable and inoffensive negro. No motive for the murder can be
found. His sudden death is still a mystery, but county officers are still busy
trying to find if the passing of the old negro was normal, accidental or the
work of some designing person who wished him out of the way for some reason that
they would profit by.
