The Atkinson County Citizen - January 11, 2007
Mrs. Grace Newmans Delk, age 89 of Jacksonville, FL. formerly of Atkinson 
County, passed away Sunday morning, December 31, 2006 at St. Vincents Medical 
Center in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness.
 Mrs. Delk was born in Clinch County, GA a part that is now Atkinson County, 
December 10, 1917, daughter of R. L. and Recie Hall Newmans. She had made her 
home in Jacksonville for the last several years where she was a homemaker. She 
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, GA. Mrs. Delk was 
preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
 Survivors include 4 sons, Jerry Delk and wife Pricilla of Lake City, FL, 
Larry Delk and wife Delane of Jacksonville, FL, John Delk of Jacksonville, FL, 
Danny Delk, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL,; 2 daughters, Glenda Kirkland and husband 
James of Jacksonville, FL, Carol Fernandez of Jacksonville, FL; 2 
grandchildren raised as children, Gail Delk of Jacksonville, FL, and Danny 
Delk, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; and one sister, Ethell Corbitt of Savannah, GA. 
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mrs. Delk were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 
at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler 
officiating. Special musical selections included "Amazing Grace," "Old Rugged 
Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" rendered by the congregation with Mary Ann 
Williams accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude 
was provided by Mary Ann Williams, pianist. The interment followed in 
Willacoochee City Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Larry Delk, Jr., Jimmy Browning, Jerry 
Delk, Jr., Jessi Motter, Donald Ed Lipsey and Craig Vonadore.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
