The Atkinson County Citizen - June 25, 2009
 Mr. Neal Dawson age 72 of Axson, Ga passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 
his home following a short illness. 
 Mr. Dawson was a native of Atkinson Co., Mr. Dawson was born August 11, 1936, 
son of John and Era Hewitt Dawson. He worked in the maintenance department in 
the mobile home industry and also worked for the Atkinson County Road 
Department. An avid fisherman and hunter, Mr. Dawson was a U.S. Army Veteran 
and attended the Axson Evangelistic Church. He was preceded in death by one 
son, Neal Allen Dawson and one grandson, Alex Dawson Pittman.
 Survivors include: Wife, Carolyn Pittman Dawson of Axson, GA, l son, 
Christopher Dawson of Axson, GA; 3 daughters, Linda Dawson of Axson, GA, Ann 
Odom of Axson GA, Amy Tolle and husband, Shannon of Homerville, GA, 1 sister, 
Elaine Simmons and husband, G. C. of Millwood, GA, 5 grandchildren, Jesse 
Pittman, Ashton Odom, Kara Odom, Emily Tolle and Baylee Tolle. Several nieces, 
great nieces, nephews and great nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Dawson were held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at 
the Axson Evangelistic Church with Rev. James Drake officiating.
 Special musical selections included, "Daddy's Hands" and "When I Get Where 
I'm Going" rendered by Charles and Tammy Wood and "Resting Place" rendered by 
soloist, John Kent. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by 
pianist, David Tolle.
 The interment followed in Axson Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were, 
Jesse Pittman, Ashton Odom, Johnny Simmons, Micky Simmons, Michael Peavy and 
Lewis Gurley.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
