Atkinson County Citizen - December 20, 2007
 Mr. Billy Davis, age 71, of Axson, GA passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007, 
at his residence following an extended illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Davis was born March 12, 1936, son of Orbie 
D. and Inez Corbitt Davis. He was a retired poultry farmer and carpenter, and 
an avid golfer. Mr. Davis was a US Army Veteran, and member of Goodwill 
Assembly of God Church and attended Zion Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He was 
preceded in death by 2 brothers; Vernell Davis and Elton Davis.
 Survivors include his wife, Cecile Davis of Axson, GA; daughter, Alicia 
Bennett and husband Leon of Millwood, GA; son, Chris Davis of Axson, GA; 
grandchildren, Justin and Jacob Bennett of Millwood, GA; five sisters, Luvelle 
Mullis of Axson, GA, Jean Joyner and husband Albert of Waycross, GA, Mary Ann 
Zorn and husband Bill of Axson, GA, Deloris Bennett and husband Huey of 
Millwood, GA, and Evelyn Steele of Waycross, GA; three brothers, Lee L. Davis 
and wife Betty of Atkinson, GA, Bunk Davis and wife Mary of Axson, GA and Orbie 
Davis Jr. and wife Carole of Waresboro, GA; and sister in law, Elouise A. Davis 
of Millwood, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 17, 
2007, at Zion Hill Freewill Baptist Church near Millwood, GA with Rev. Keith 
Lloyd, Rev. Byron Griffis and Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Special musical 
selections included "Leaving on my Mind" rendered by Charles and Tammy Woods 
with Charles accompanying on the guitar, and "Ain't No Grave" rendered by 
soloist, Tammy Woods with tape accompaniment. The interment followed in the 
Axson Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Fred Mullis, Randy Overstreet, Mike Davis, 
Tommy Spikes, Barry Lang, Steve Whilden.
 Serving as honorary pallbearers were Dean Whitson, Eugene Bennett, Jeffrey 
White, Steve Bennett, Eli Devane, Timmy Barber, Andy Royals, Aaron Royals, 
Howard Whilden, Greg Davis, Emory Skinner, Larry Burch, Marvin McDaniel.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
