NASHVILLE -- L. A. "Buddy" Corbitt, 85, of Nashville died Sunday Sept. 14, 
2003 at Berrien County Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Atkinson County 
to Elijah and Gertrude Register Corbitt.
 For many years he owned and operated Corbitt Furniture Co. He attended Young 
Harris College and served as an Alderman for the City of Willacoochee and the 
City of Nashville. He also was a former member of the Atkinson County Board of 
Education, a Mason and Shriner. He had received his 50 year pin and was a past 
Master of the Willacoochee Lodge. He served as President for Berrien County 
Chamber of Commerce. He served as a member of the Nashville Housing Authority, 
and was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church and a Navy veteran 
of WWII. 
 He was the widower of Eloise Olive Corbitt who died in 1994 and was also 
preceded in death by a son, Joe Robert Corbitt who died in 1976.
 He is survived by three daughters, Teena Mauldin, Cottonwood, AL, Sylvia 
Hooks, Swainsboro, Theresa Lovein, Nashville; one son, Lige "Boots" Corbitt 
III, Dublin; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dr. Mary Kay 
Corbitt, Valdosta; and two brothers, James McDonald Corbitt, Birmingham, AL 
and Charles Edward Corbitt of Canton.
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 17, 2003, at 
Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Trawick and the Rev. 
Jack Key officiating. Burial will be held in Willacoochee City Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
