Atkinson County Citizen - August 4, 2005
 Mr. Cary H. Corbitt, age 86, of Pearson passed away Monday morning, July 25, 
2005 at Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers, GA following a short illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Corbitt was born December 26, 1918 son of 
Jesse R. and Annie Bell Mills Corbitt. He was a retired heavy equipment 
operator and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson where he served as 
a deacon for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he 
received a Purple Heart Award. Mr. Corbitt was preceded in death by his wife 
Susie Corbitt.
 Survivors include: son, Tony Corbitt and wife Sally of Loganville, GA; 
daughter Debra Jackson and husband Donald of Palatka, FL; 3 grandchildren, 
Rebecca Corbitt, Michael Corbitt and Brittany Jackson. Several nieces and 
nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Corbitt were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005 
at the First Baptist Church in Pearson, GA with Rev. Chris Carpenter and Rev. 
Don Hardison officiating. Special musical selections included "Blessed 
Assurance" and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the congregation with Mary Williams 
accompanying at the piano and Candace Brown accompanying at the organ. Soft 
music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Mary Williams, pianist and 
Candace Brown, organist. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Jack Corbitt, Myles Corbitt, Wayne Corbitt, 
Bruce Corbitt, Herman Tucker and William White.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
