 Mr. Clayton Conger, age 88, of Willacoochee, GA passed away Tuesday, November 
27, 2007 at his residence, following a brief illness.
 A native of Berrien County, Mr. Conger was born February 13, 1919, son of 
John Thomas and Janie Wilson Conger. He had made his home in Willacoochee, GA 
for most of his life. Mr. Conger was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and 
previously worked in maintenance for the city of Willacoochee. He was also a 
school bus driver for the Atkinson County school system. He attended the 
Willacoochee Church of God.
 Mr. Conger was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Ruby Parks and Maudie Lee 
Bexton, 2 brothers: Clark Conger and Virgil Conger, and 1 grandson: Gregory 
Alton Conger.
 Survivors include his wife Maedell Duggan Conger of Willacoochee, GA; three 
sons, Charles Conger, Jr. and wife Margaret of Willacoochee, GA, Clarence A. 
Conger and wife Carolyn of Willacoochee, GA, and Jerry Lee Conger and wife Pat 
of Willacoochee, GA; one daughter, Barbara Luke and Husband Ottis of 
Willacoochee, GA; two brothers, John Henry Conger of Jacksonville, FL and 
Tommy Conger of Tifton, GA; and one sister, Lois Musselwhite of Tifton, GA, 16 
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also 
survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Conger were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 30, 
2007, at the Church of God, in Willacoochee, GA with Rev. Jeremy DeLoach, Rev. 
Leonard Harnage and Rev. Levy Jones officiating. A special scripture was read 
by grandson, Brad Luke. Special musical selections included, "Beulah Land" 
and "Amazing Grace," rendered by soloist, Derrick Soles, and "Who Am I?" 
rendered by soloist, Rev. Jeremy DeLoach accompanied by tape. Soft music for 
the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Bonnie Kunberger, pianist.
 The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery with special 
instrumental, "Wildwood Flower," played by Eugene and James Larry Courdle on 
the guitar.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Brad Luke, Steven Luke, Carlis Luke, Kevin 
Conger, Timothy Conger, Shane Merson, Ignacio Rodriguez, Don Gillford, Kyle 
Moore, Jeff Hulett and Terry Hall.
 Serving as honorary pallbearers were Al Wingate, Chester Hall, Ronnie Moore, 
Hilton Purvis, Jackie Claxton, and Harold Davis.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
