 Mr. Leon S. "Bobby Gene" Bowen, Sr. of Waycross, GA, formerly of Willacoochee, 
passed away Wednesday evening, January 25, 2006 at Satilla Regional Medical 
Center in Waycross, GA following an extended illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Bowen was born August 26, 1943 son of Louell 
Giddens Bowen and the late Leon Bowen. He was a truck driver and a member of 
Sunnyside Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Leon S. 
Bowen, Jr.
 Survivors include two sons, Greg Bowen of Waycross, GA and Stacey Bowen of 
Waycross, GA; daughters, Victoria Bowen of Waycross, Ga and Kimberly Chauncey 
of Waycross, GA; mother, Louell Giddens Bowen of Brunswick; brother, Billy Ray 
Bowen of Lakeland, GA; sisters, Christine Paulk of Willacoochee, GA and Lou 
Dean Wooten of Nichols, GA; 11 grandchildren, Amber Bedgood, Tiffany Bowen, 
Joseph Bedgood, Austin Bowen, Tracey Chauncey, Damian Chauncey, Adam Bowen, 
Kandis Bowen, Kaylie Crosby, Jessica Bowen and Stacey Bowen; several nieces and 
nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Bowen were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 
at Sunnyside Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Byers officiating. Special 
musical selections included "When I Get To Where I'm Going" and "Go Rest High 
On That Mountain" played by tape, "Daddy's Hands" rendered by Victoria Bennett 
and Kimberly Chauncey with tape accompaniment and "Go Rest High On That 
Mountain" rendered by Buddy and Lawanda Musgrove with taped accompaniment. Soft 
music for the prelude and postlude was provided by tape.
 The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with "My Old Friend" and "Dance 
With My Father" being played by tape.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Linzy Melton, Robbie Mercer, Mark Carter, 
Darrin Waters, Daniel Nelson, Derrick Bryant.
 Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jeffery Stone, Steve Harrison, Joseph 
Bedgood and Austin Bowen.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
