Atkinson County Citizen - February 7, 2008
 Mr. J.C. Bowen, age 63, of Pearson, GA passed away Monday evening, January 28, 
2008 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA following a extended 
illness.
 A native and lifelong resident of Atkinson County, Mr. Bowen was born August 
27, 1944, son of the late Clarence and Illa Anderson Bowen. Mr. Bowen had made 
his home in the Sunnyside Community for many years and had previously worked 
for Morris Bridges Gas Company as a service technician. Recently he had been 
self employed for the last several years in maintenance work. He especially 
enjoyed his grandchildren, playing the guitar and fishing in the Satilla river 
near Atkinson, GA.
 Survivors include, wife, Linda McDonald Bowen of Pearson, GA; son, Jake Bowen 
and wife Angie of Douglas, GA, daughter, Sandra Summerlin and husband Mack of 
Pearson, GA; 2 brothers, Edward Bowen of Fitzgerald, GA, Donald Bowen and wife 
Christine of Fitzgerald, GA; sister, Dorothy Spikes and husband J.C. of 
Fitzgerald, GA, 2 grandchildren, Marcus Summerlin of Pearson, GA, Shanna 
Summerlin of Pearson, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Bowen were held Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 2 
p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church near Pearson, GA with Father Dan 
O'Connell officiating. Special music included an instrumental "Precious 
Memories" rendered by tape. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was 
provided by Michelle Howell organist. 
 The interment followed in the Holy Family Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Jake Bowen, Mack Summerlin, Marcus 
Summerlin, Claude White, Jr., Tom Miller, Troy Aldridge.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
