Our Mountain Home April 3, 1901
News was received in Talladega yesterday that Walter Quadrail, a negro boy 16
years of age, had on Saturday assaulted the little daughter of E. R. Pittard, of
Ashland. The child had been enticed to the barn by the negro where he attempted
her ruin. The negro was promptly arrested by Sheriff Mayo and placed in jail and
a strong guard put around it. The citizens of Ashland soon surrounded the jail
for the purpose of getting the negro out, but the guard was determined and at
last accounts things were quiet, as the Judge had agreed to have the case.

PARENTS, be sure you know where your little girls are at all times.
