Goodwater Enterprise December 4, 1908
One day last week near Bethel Institute, in Fish Head Valley, Clay County, Martin 
Harcrow shot and seriously wounded Farmer Thrash, the bullet from a 44 caliber 
colts pistol passing through his lung. It is said that Harcrow fired only after 
he had been knocked down and was being beaten by Thrash.  Harcrow voluntarily 
surrendered and is in jail at Ashland. Thrash is improving, and will soon be out 
again, it is reported.
