The Ashland Progress September 20, 1928
Mrs. O. W. Dean, member of the Clay County High School faculty, was carried to
the Baptist Hospital in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon for treatment by
specialists for a serious trouble, said to be blood poisoning, which began to
develop from a small pimple which appeared on her chin a few days ago.

She was accompanied to Birmingham by her husband and family physician and
reports are that heroic efforts have been made to save her life, but her
condition is said to be extremely critical.
