December 16—(Special) News of a probably fatal cutting affray which occurred in 
Fish Head valley Clay County, Saturday night, just reached this city the facts of 
which were related by a citizen of that county here this morning Walter Smith, is 
said, was the victim of Jim Swope and others had a big fight in the road just 
after the adjournment of a party at a neighbor's house. He was slashed with 
knives until it is thought he will die. Smith s throat was cut terribly, and he 
was stabbed in the back in a dangerous manner, it is said besides numerous cuts 
all over parts of the body extending down to his ankles.
