Mrs. Rachel Birkhimer, 85, High st., Dresden, died enroute to Good 
Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, at 5:15 a.m. today from either a stroke 
or heart ailment.  She had been in ill health the past six years.

Born Feb. 15, 1881, in Noble County, she was a daughter of John and Mary 
Dickerson McMahn, and was married to Newton Birkhimer, who died in 1934.

Mrs. Birkhimer was a member of the Dresden Nazarene Church.

Surviving are four sons, Clyde of the home, Ernest, Clarence and Frank, 
all of Dresden; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Bryan of Millersburg and Mrs. 
Ada Moran of Massillon; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Janice Swope of Dresden; 25 
grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and eight 
step-great-grandchildren.  A stepson, stepdaughter, four brothers and 
two sisters are deceased.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dresden Chapel of 
Baughman & Sons Funeral Home, Dresden, by Rev. Paul Flack.  Burial will 
be in Dresden Cemetery.
