James M. Philpot was born in this township in 1849, and has followed farming
most of his life, though he was in a store several years. In 1875 he married
Martha C. McClintock; children: Shepard B., Clifford M. and Emily. Mrs.
Philpot is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Philpot is engaged
in farming and stock-raising.
