SAMUEL McGARRY afterwards probate judge, was a member of one of the early
families in the county. He studied law in McConnelsville and practiced
there for a time. he located at Sarahsville, and after the establishment of
the county, was connected with the editorial management of several of the
early newspapers. He never had any great amount of law practice. He was the
first treasurer of Noble County, and from 1857 to 1864 held the office of
probate judge. He removed to the West and died there.
